Fat Kid Adventure #7: NOLA (downtown Palo Alto)

(Originally posted July 13, 2007)

Had a really fun dinner at Nola's in downtown Palo Alto tonight with The Chiquitas, affiliated manbuddies, and Rachel's new colleage, Kurt. Great atmosphere - at least it is what I would expect if I went to New Orleans for Mardi Gras or something. Best entrees are the Flier's Famous Skirt Steak (long strip of steak wrapped around some mash potatoes, also some onion rings on top - $20) and the Black Cat (catfish with magical sauce and mash taters - MUST try). Best desserts are Bread pPudding (makes the mouth dance because it's made with brandy) and Beignets du Monde (6 square doughnuts powdered with sugar with 3 dips: raspberry, chocolate, and brandy) - both $7.50. The Hurricane is the drink to get - since I had to drive I got the virgin one, which may taste better than the alcoholic version. Great place!
