Fat Kid Adventure #46: picnic at Japanese Tea Garden (San Francisco - Golden Gate Park)

(Originally posted on September 19, 2007)

In the heart of the Golden Gate Park is a nice little place called Japanese Tea Garden. If it wasn't so crowded with tourists and allowed picnicking inside, this would have been perfect. So we picnicked near JTG, on some benches. From Whole Foods - peppered roast beef, French deli roll (for bun), garlic pepper brie, and tiny toasts. From Safeway - dijon mustard, tomato, lettuce, Pom juice, watermelon, caramel apple packages. Our sandwich was pretty good - the dijon mustard needs to be leveled with amount of bread so as to bring out the edgy taste. Always a fan of the Pom and the watermelon. The brie was WOW with the tiny toasts - think regular brie but with the whole garlic and pepper infusion touch - palpable savoriness. I haven't had caramelized apple stuff since middle school, and it was pretty damn good. Good weather and good company mixed with good food makes an awesome picnic!
