And extraordinary it was! We hopped into this spot after Islander Grill - how did we have room? I don't even know but the epicurean spirit helps out a bit. We got there and it was PACKED. This place is small considering how many people it accommodates usually, but it is nicely decorated and has outdoor seating with heat lamps which provides a very relaxing environment. To be specific, we went to the branch on 5th Ave. The staff there all look pretty artsy... you will see what I mean when you visit. Props to Tiffany for recommending!
The dessert we got was huge - Passion Fruit [this word with 2 v's in it]. Dimensions are roughly 15cm diameter with max height of ~8cm. Huge. It is essentially a cake with lots of fruits on top - pineapple, blueberry, blackberry, strawberry, peach, kiwi. Underneath that is a layer of thick lemon meringue. Underneath that is a big chuck of this cake/bread. It is hard, crunchy, and covered thinly with sugar. When consumed, it gives the impression of hardened cotton candy. Anyway, very good dessert. We got it because it looked crazy, and when we vaycay with gastronomic pursuits - we do it crazy. There are a ton of yumminess displayed, most very artistically driven. You will see the picture of the dessert we ordered in the photos.
Would we come back? Yes, but on a much emptier stomach. Excellent dessert joint to take your girl on a date, to discuss business with a CEO with a sweet tooth, or discuss how 4-year olds can be intimidating in a life-threatening way. Fantastic place that people must try!
