Fat Kid Adventure #48: Vaso Azzurro (Mountain View)

(Originally posted on September 19, 2007)

I got a free week before school starts so I have been treating RaDaBoo to lunch at her work everyday. Monday's lunch was from Vaso Azzurro on Castro in Mountain View - appetizer: Salade D’Encornads - sautéed calamari, garlic, parsley, olive oil, fresh tomatoes and lemon herbs dressing over bed of arugula; she: Fettuccine Azzurro - flat nodules sautéed with black mussels, rock shrimp, and sea scallops, garlic, scallions, herbs, EVOO (extra virgin olive oil), chardonnay-saffron sauce; me: Scallopini Di Vitello Alla Marsal - tender veal cutlets sautéed very delicately with olive oil, marsala wine, green olives, mushroom, brown butter. Honestly the best thing was the salad - the slightly salty and well seasoned sauteed calamari was strangely good, and the EVOO only made it better. My scallopini was so-so - the veal wasn't as tender or thick as I thought it would be. Portions are decent - not generous, not stingy.
