Fat Kid Adventure #52: Lattitudes at Lover's Point (Pacific Grove)

(Originally posted on February 19, 2008)

On a special getaway trip this past summer, Rachel and I were cruising along the sands by Pebble Beach down near Monterey. There was a particular cove called the Lover's Point, where a fantastic restaurant called Lattitudes was located. It had a bar inside, called Loungitude (get it? b'dum, ch!) Its owner is the [apparently] famous Tene Shake (love that name!), and everything we ordered was absolutely fantastic. The waitress was really nice and attended to our every need. It's pricey for a good reason. To start with, a delicately crafted Seafood Tower - a small cylindrical stack of crab meat and shrimp, topped by a layer of avocado slices and mango cubes, and finally embellished by some light greens. To top it all off, couple swivels of a nice and tangy raspberry vinaigrette across the top and over the dish - smooth to all senses! To continue the good times, I had the Tropical Macadamia Crusted Tilapia and Rachel had the Saturday night special - a seafood pasta dish. That tilapia pretty much fell apart in my mouth - slightly buttery, elastic and "bouncy" with a crunch! Finally, we enjoyed a nice tri-flavored creme brulee to finish off the meal. The shell was nice and crispy, keeping the mango, strawberry, passion fruit nice and happy. A couple of ladyfingers stuck out through the shell - nice look, but even better taste when dipped into the gorgeous amalgamation

If you're ever in the Monterey area, stop by this joint for a price you are willing to pay for. Unfortunately, some bad reviews on Yelp, but we certainly loved every minute of it.
