Fat Kid Adventure #61: Zucca (Mountain View)

(Originally posted on February 21, 2008)

For our 7-month, we dined in downtown Mountain View at this Mediterranean slash Italian place called Zucca. Seating was regular, atmosphere is romantic, and we sat right by the windows to watch the rain batter the outdoors. There is something about watching the harsh rain in a calmer indoors setting that just sets the mood very nicely. So we did appetizer and entrees - no dessert because no ROOM. Had the sample platter to start - giant portion of calamari, falafel balls, and potato croquette, and eggplant polpette. Excellent stuff, already very filling because the SAWWWCE that came with it was slightly heavy. Also, there is free bread (always a plus). Entrees - she had the pacific bass special of the night, I had rabbit for the first time in my life. That fried pacific bass filet was BIG but not as flavorful as she expected, and the sides include steamed veggies and rice pilaf. The rabbit has a strange and slightly bitter aftertaste. It was overall very tender, and slid right off the thin little bones. Big portion for rabbit as well. The two giant slices of polenta were never finished.
